Health and Safety

It's been a year and we are beginning to have some sense of normalcy again. We are expected to enter into the Orange Tier on March 23rd and projected to reach the Yellow Tier three weeks later. The most up to date guidance from Public Health states that we will no longer need to close down full cohorts when a teacher or student tests positive. We will instead do contact tracing/interviews to determine who was less than 6 feet for longer than 15 minutes with the positive person. Those persons will then be asked to quarantine.

Marin County has now vaccinated about 40% of the 16 and older population. When we return from Spring Break, all staff will have had the opportunity to be fully immunized. This is great news! Thanks to all of you for being vigilant and for keeping yourself, our students and our community safe. Out of state travel is not recommended at this time. Those families who choose to travel over Spring Break or participate in other high risk behaviors should quarantine for 10 days. A student may return to school with a negative PCR test result from a test taken after day five. Please contact Nurse Jane at jgonorkar@millercreeksd.org with any questions.

The Kindness Challenge Spring Fundraiser

A HUGE thank you to all Panther families who participated in our Kindness Challenge fundraiser. At press time, we have raised $25,690, surpassing our $25K fundraising goal, and the dollars are still coming in. Woo hoo!!! If you have personally donated, please ask for a company match if you're eligible. The 99Pledges site will shut down Sunday evening so we have until then to collect online donations. If you've gathered any donations in the form of cash or checks, please turn those in, along with the attached form, to the front office by Tuesday.

If your student has raised $100, they will receive an email to choose their reward (either a Scotty’s or Marinwood Market $10 gift card), and if they raise $250+ they will receive another email to choose an additional reward valued at $30. The student raffle takes place on Thursday, April 1st – participating students earned 1 raffle ticket for registering and an additional raffle ticket for every $50 raised. Each grade level will have their own raffle with prizes valued at $20, $60 and $150. Winners will receive an email to choose their prize within that value category.  Questions? mcmshsc@gmail.com

Thanks to your students, our school has benefitted not only from much-needed funds but also by becoming a kinder place. We’d like to thank the school administration, the school counselors, and our parent volunteer committee who put on the fundraiser: Jen Belair, Carolyn Boyce, Deana Dearborn, Grely Mazariegos, Joanna Piño, and Mary Rosenthal.

Warm regards,

Your Home & School Club

Say Something Week

In order to continue the conversation with our students to ACT, (Acknowledge, Care, Tell) when they are concerned about a friend, our student leadership group will be promoting Say Something Week, March 22-26th. Say Something Week is a nationally recognized awareness week created by the Sandy Hook Promise to bring awareness to mental health and teaches youth to “Say Something” to a trusted adult if they’re concerned about a friend or classmate. Please encourage your child to wear Green on Friday to celebrate this week.
