Congratulations to our Rising 6th graders and welcome to the Panther family. We look forward to meeting all of you in the fall. #StongerTogether

Hello Panther Community,

Congratulations on supporting your child in completing yet another year of learning. We hope you take some time off screens this summer to relax, rejuvenate and dear I say it read. As you are preparing for summer fun, we are actively preparing for the fall. We wanted to provide you with an update on our current assumptions for the upcoming school year. As you know, we have formed a Reopening Think Team consisting of an instructional coach, teachers and administrators. This team has developed possible scenarios given the guidelines from County Health (see list below). We continue to collaborate with the Marin County Office of Education and surrounding districts for planning a safe opening for the 2020/2021 school year. Lastly, we conducted a parent survey where 1,035 parents responded district wide. As previously mentioned this past week, we held a Parent Focus Group where we shared the two scenarios our Reopening Think Team is currently considering for the fall (mentioned in last week’s Panther Press) and asked for feedback on the following questions:

  • What worries you most about learning in the fall?

  • What would help to alleviate those fears?

  • What supports do you think your child will need transitioning back to school?

  • What kind of communication would you prefer to best understand the safety precautions being taken when school reopens?

Receiving parent feedback in this format is very helpful in informing our planning process. We are committed to keeping you notified. Please expect communication over the summer to provide updates on our progress.

Happy Summer!

Current Assumptions for the Fall

  • We will follow the guidance from the county health officials

  • Cohort Model - Students will be organized in groups of 12 plus a teacher. There should be no mingling of groups

  • Limit movement on campus (no recess as we know it, no assemblies)

  • 100% remote instruction at some point

  • Teachers may interact with multiple tracks/cohorts

  • Some students will require 100% remote for a longer period of time (Immunocompromised)

  • Essential Protective Equipment (EPE) will be necessary - Students 12 and older will need to wear a mask at school

  • Handwashing schedule

  • Staggered start times to support social distancing

  • No visitors on campus; no volunteers

  • Declutter classrooms so frequent disinfecting can occur

MCMS Yearbooks

Yearbook Distribution Update: Yearbooks will not be available until mid-July at the earliest due to effects from COVID-19 on the printing process. We apologize for this delay and will communicate with the entire Miller Creek community when we determine how to best proceed with yearbook distribution in a safe and healthy manner. We appreciate your understanding.  For those with any questions about yearbooks, please email Mr. Case at ccase@millercreedsd.org.
